With regards to the Liquor Liability Insurance or "Host" Liquor Liability Insurance: "Host" is a term commonly used in the insurance industry to explain incidental exposures related to liquor liability that are not excluded on the General Liability coverage form.
We use the term "Host" on our certificate of insurance to make sure that we do not confuse anyone into thinking they had full-blown liquor liability coverage insurance. If the insured is not in the business manufacturing, distribution, selling, serving or furnishing of alcohol then liquor liability exclusion is removed therefore covering liquor liability for the insured. The box for Retail Liquor Liability is not checked on the policy form because it is not included. This coverage is designed for operations that are in the business of manufacturing, distributing, selling, serving or furnishing alcohol. If the insurance was for a restaurant or an individual bartender that served alcohol then on their policy the box for "Retail Liquor Liability" would be checked and the applicable coverage forms attached. Our event policies that include Host Liquor liability are expecting a truly host liquor liability exposure and would be ready to cover that if suit was brought against you as long as it was a host liquor situation.
